The organisation aims to raise 7.500 EUR from donors within the next six weeks

The European Youth Press (EYP) has launched a crowdfunding campaign to support the production and printing of a graphic novel with 15 short stories on the challenges and threats media actors face in Europe. The comic book will be one of the main outcomes of its Free Our Media! project which has gathered young journalists and cartoonists from 15 different countries to actively defend freedom of press across the continent.

These young professionals will come together from 15 to 19 July in Berlin to start designing, drawing and writing the comic book, based on their experience as Media Freedom Ambassadors in their own countries. Experienced Human Rights artists, Yorgos Konstantinou and Marcus Mazzoni, will be their mentors.

The organisation aims to raise 7.500 EUR before 6th August to print, at least, 10.000 copies of the book.

People can donate from 10 to 1.000 EUR towards the campaign.

“Literally, every little helps. It doesn’t matter how much you can put into this, it will be very welcome. This is not just a donation, anyway. People who support this project get something on the side, starting from an electronic edition of the book, for those who contribute 10 EUR, up to printed copies, t-shirts or even a special mention in the book for individuals and institutions that can give us more”, says project coordinator Anna Saraste.

The book will be launched later in the year. It will be distributed all over Europe.
